Inspired by Chapter 51 of Julian’s Shewings, here is a three-day cycle of Prayer that meditates upon the themes of Creation, Salvation, and Sanctification. It is in the Parable of the Lord and Servant in Chapter 51 that Julian discusses her understanding of the Work of Christ: Joined with Humankind from before the Beginning, Christ is sent into the world to join his heavenly humanity with our earthly humanity and, at his death, to bring that earthly humanity with him back into heaven. The Son is sent to die – but NOT to take our punishment upon himself, for God is all Love and does not punish. Christ is sent to die in order to pick us up and bring us home, at which there is great rejoicing in heaven.
See these prayers also on our Julian Beads pages.
